Energy supply companies are considering what actual support £’s are viable and how they would contribute to their OFGEM targets.

Condensing Boiler Subsidies

For some years now gas and electricity suppliers have had carbon savings targets set by OFGEM, and have charged customers a fuel levy to fund incentives. Since April 2002, these have been as part of a programme called Energy Efficiency Commitment 1, with up to £70 available to homeowners, social landlords and developers if they fit a condensing boiler.

Energy Efficiency Commitment 2 will replace EEC1 in April 2005. Because condensing boilers are mandatory by then in England and Wales, the potential support payments will be lower.
There is likely to be:
• Limited support for fitting a SEDBUK A rather than B condensing boiler
• Higher support for fitting a SEDBUK A or B boiler where an exception applies.
